Fetish vs D/s

After attending a freaking wicked cool FetCon I found Myself pondering the differences within the fetish and D/s communities. I came to a couple of conclusions that I will share.

The fetish community to Me seems to be more about the visual pleasing of the senses rather than about the power exchange that D/s is founded on. All of the pretty fetish models doing shoots and their admirers made that completely obvious. Don't get Me wrong, I like looking at eye candy as much as the next person. But I wonder if the tittilation of imagery clouds the real appreciation for what a scene is about.

There is no evident establishment of trust or real emotion that I can see.

Now about D/s, I wonder as well if the fetish porn sites are leading participants to embrace this mostly hedonistic approach. Too often I see that any D/s or fetish activity is expected to result in sex. Certainly I can understand the attraction and stimulation.... But there should be more in My opinion. Connections and power exchange are becoming less and less evident in the more commercial representations of this lifestyle. It appears to be less about people, and more about "a look" or a perfectly planned scene image.

Any thoughts about this?

FetishCon

I am excited to attend FetishCon this year in Tampa during the upcoming weekend. There is something so fun about being at a large gathering of so many people that while not necessarily into D/s but have an appreciation for the different areas of kink.
